Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Green Asia Food Indonesia (GAFI), the producer of JOYDAY ice cream, provided 2,000 boxes of ice cream to around 200 resellers affected by the floods in Banjarmasin.
Yu Miao, a GAFI Management Representative, said this assistance is intended to ease the burden on Joyday resellers and encourage distributors to rebuild their businesses after the floods.
“As a company, we always hope that the people of Banjarmasin remain well and return to normal life after this disaster passes,” he said in a written statement.
This social activity is part of Yili’s ongoing social programs in 2021. Previously in 2020, the Yili Group also provided assistance to the West Java Provincial Government through the Bike for Care program, and assistance to the Jakarta Regional General Hospital and medical personnel through the Jakarta Provincial Government.
The aid included portable handwashing stations and ice cream products, supporting thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, distributing staple food aid, and through the Presidential Staff Office, providing 100,000 medical masks, 2,000 protective goggles, and 2,000 protective suits for medical personnel in Indonesia.
The Banjarmasin City Government recorded 152 flood-affected areas. These areas were spread across East Banjarmasin (107 areas), North Banjarmasin (28 areas), and South Banjarmasin (17 areas). Only West Banjarmasin and Central Banjarmasin were unaffected. A total of 31,357 families, or 101,601 people, were affected by the floods. This represents approximately one-seventh of Banjarmasin’s population.
