Liputan6.com, Jakarta – International Childhood Cancer Day 2023 (ICCD) is celebrated every February 15th. This year’s commemoration carries the theme “Better Survival is achievable #throughtheirhands.”
An estimated 400,000 children worldwide aged 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer each year. Most live in low- and middle-income countries, including Indonesia.
According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), there have been more than 11,000 new cases of childhood cancer, with the most common type being blood cancer (leukemia), accounting for 3,880 cases, or 35 percent of the total cases.

To bring joy to children with cancer and medical personnel, the Indonesian Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Psychology Student Association of Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Yogyakarta, with support from the Yili Group, held a positive activity that included making puppets from socks and playing fun games.
Yili Group, Asia’s largest dairy producer, through its subsidiaries PT Yili Indonesia Dairy and PT Green Asia Food Indonesia (GAFI), also shared the joy by providing free Joyday ice cream to children with cancer and the medical personnel who care for them.
Yili Group also supported the 2023 World Childhood Cancer Day commemoration in Jakarta and several other major cities across Indonesia. The 2023 World Childhood Cancer Day commemoration also aims to raise public awareness, especially among parents, about the dangers of cancer, which often threaten the lives of children.
