Yili Indonesia Dairy Exports 1,000 Tons of Joyday Ice Cream to 16 Countries Annually

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, the producer of the Joyday brand of ice cream, has expanded its market to 16 countries, exporting over 1,000 tons annually, valued at US$2 million (equivalent to Rp 32 billion at an exchange rate of Rp 16,000). Yu Miao, President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, stated that the Yili factory has been registered as a company with a food safety management system recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) through FSSC 22000 certification. In Indonesia, he added, PT Yili Indonesia Dairy is also the first ice cream company in Indonesia to receive the Risk Management Program (PMR) certification from the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

Furthermore, all JOYDAY product variants are registered with the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and are certified Halal by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). “Currently, JOYDAY ice cream has been distributed to 38 provinces throughout Indonesia and has been exported to 16 countries, including Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Middle Eastern countries, and Africa, with exports reaching over 1,000 tons per year, valued at US$2 million,” said Yu Miao in a written statement on Thursday (May 23, 2024).

Yu Miao explained that the purpose of this factory is to meet the demand for ice cream from Indonesia and other Asian countries. He explained that this factory is YILI’s first ice cream factory in Indonesia, with an investment of Rp 2 trillion to produce its current main product, Joyday ice cream. He explained that with a production capacity of over 100 tons of Joyday ice cream per day in various flavors, PT Yili Indonesia Dairy has implemented the latest technology in processing the best raw materials, implementing responsible quality management, supervision, and control to produce the best ice cream products in accordance with Indonesian and international quality standards. “The quality assurance of Joyday ice cream products is also strengthened by a monitoring and control process, starting from the raw materials and packaging materials used, to ensure compliance with quality standards and halal certification. Joyday products are processed using high-tech automated machines,” he said. Yu Miao explained that PT Yili Indonesia Dairy is committed to implementing sustainability standards, including in the construction and operation of its factory. He added that the factory has a wastewater treatment system that can recycle water and help save up to 4,000 tons of water per year.

Furthermore, Yu Miao explained that to meet production needs, PT Yili Indonesia is supported by a local workforce. “Currently, 67 percent of the workforce at the JOYDAY ice cream factory comes from the surrounding area. PT Yili Indonesia Dairy also ensures technology transfer to the Indonesian workforce through continuous training,” he said.
