RM.id Rakyat Merdeka – Yili Group and PT Green Asia Food Indonesia (GAFI), the producer of Joyday ice cream, are collaborating with the West Java Provincial Government to launch the Bike for Care Program.
This program aims to support the livelihoods of small, micro, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yu Miao, a GAFI management representative, stated that the assistance provided consists of multipurpose bicycles modified for trading. The bicycles were specially designed by the Yili team and manufactured by an MSME in Bekasi.
“There are 20 bicycles in total. We hope these bicycles will help economically impacted communities find a livelihood,” she said in a press release on Wednesday (November 25).
She stated that these modified bicycles can be used by small business vendors to transport their goods, hopefully helping their previously depressed economy to recover little by little. She expressed her concern about the impact of the pandemic on the community, both health-wise and economically.
Therefore, the Bike for Care program is expected to support the community’s livelihoods so they can resume their businesses. This social activity is part of Yili’s ongoing #JoydaylawanCovid-19 social program.
The assistance was handed over to the West Java Provincial Government, represented by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. The assistance will then be distributed directly to the recipients by the West Java Provincial MSME Office.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil welcomed the bicycle donation. He stated that during the Covid-19 pandemic, all parties must work together to restore the economy of small communities.
“These bicycles are to help small businesses, so they can sell from village to village,” he hoped.
Previously, the Yili Group also provided assistance to the Jakarta Regional General Hospital (RSUD) and medical personnel through the Jakarta Provincial Government in the form of portable handwashing stations and ice cream products, assisted thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, and distributed staple food aid.
Then, through the Presidential Staff Office, the company provided assistance in the form of 100,000 medical masks, 2,000 protective goggles, and 2,000 protective suits for medical personnel in Indonesia. [DIT]
