JAKARTA – Yili Group, through its subsidiary, PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, has opened Indonesia’s largest ice cream factory, covering 10 hectares in Bekasi. Yili invested Rp 2 trillion in the first phase of the factory’s construction. The Joyday brand of ice cream is being prepared for export to several Southeast Asian countries.
PT Yili Indonesia Dairy President Director Yu Miao explained that the factory will produce 159 tons of Joyday brand ice cream per day. The factory’s production capacity will increase to 4 million ice cream cones per day after the second phase of investment.
“Yili Group plans to export products from the Indonesian factory to other Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Thailand, and Myanmar,” said Yu Miao in an official statement on Monday, December 20, 2021.
Currently, the PT Yili Indonesia Dairy factory produces 35 flavors of Joyday ice cream, with distribution lines spread across 260 regencies or cities across 26 provinces in Indonesia.
Yu Miao stated that, going forward, this Chinese dairy producer will continue to improve product innovation and create more jobs, both directly and indirectly, for the Indonesian people.
Partnering with MSMEs
With the establishment of its factory in Indonesia, Yili signed a cooperation agreement with local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), facilitated directly by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM.
Yu Miao explained that collaborating with Indonesian MSMEs has been a company plan since its initial investment in Indonesia in 2018.
“As a company committed to producing the best dairy products, we are certainly pleased to collaborate with local Indonesian MSMEs,” he said.
Under this partnership, the MSMEs will supply raw materials and operational support facilities for the PT Yili Indonesia Dairy factory. This collaboration is expected to boost the Indonesian economy.
“This aligns with the mandate given by the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, when he inaugurated the PT Yili Indonesia Dairy ice cream factory on Friday, December 10, 2021,” he said.
The signing ceremony was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) as part of the Partnership Agreement Signing between Foreign and Domestic Investment Companies (PMA/PMDN) and MSMEs at The Mulia Resort Bali.
