ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s largest ice cream factory, owned by China’s Yili Group, through PT Green Asia Food Indonesia and PT Yili Indonesia Dairy in Bekasi, West Java, is committed to partnering with Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The Yili Group ice cream factory, located on 17 hectares of land, with an investment of IDR 2.5 trillion, of which IDR 1.9 trillion has already been realized, will serve as a processing facility for Joyday products.
Yu Miao, a representative of Yili Group Management and President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, explained that collaborating with MSMEs in Indonesia has been a company plan since its initial investment in Indonesia in 2018.
“As a company committed to producing the best dairy products, we are delighted to be collaborating with local Indonesian MSMEs. Moving forward, we are committed to creating jobs, both directly and indirectly, and to continuing to collaborate with more Indonesian MSMEs,” he said in an official statement on Sunday (12/19/2021).
Yili Group is targeting the first phase of the 10-hectare Joyday factory, which will create a projected 5,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly.
According to Yu Miao, Yili Group will continue to enhance product innovation and create more jobs, both directly and indirectly, for the Indonesian people.
“Yili Group will also actively participate in local economic development and collaborate with our partners to benefit more people,” he added.
Yili Group is realizing this intention by entering into cooperation agreements with local MSMEs, facilitated directly by the Ministry of Investment or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
Local MSMEs are targeted to supply raw materials and supporting facilities for the PT Yili Indonesia Dairy factory, and are expected to contribute to improving the Indonesian economy.
Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia personally witnessed the signing of the Partnership Cooperation Agreement between 89 foreign and domestic companies, including Yili Group, and 382 MSMEs.
Bahlil Lahadalia expressed his appreciation to the company for signing the cooperation agreement with the MSMEs.
“High economic growth is a goal for all of us, but it must be quality economic growth. A prerequisite for quality economic growth is equitable growth, including the support of MSMEs. Therefore, this collaboration is important. I thank the large entrepreneurs from both within and outside the country,” he explained.
Meanwhile, PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, which recently inaugurated its large ice cream production facility in Indonesia, targets to produce 159 tons of ice cream per day for its Joyday brand ice cream, and projects production capacity to reach four million ice creams per day after the second phase of investment.
As the first step in a long-term investment and collaboration in Indonesia, the Yili Group also plans to export products from this factory to other Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Myanmar.
Currently, the factory produces 35 flavors of Joyday ice cream, with distribution lines spread across 260 regencies/cities in 26 provinces in Indonesia. (ATN)
